Poem # 469 from my Poetry Book, Volume 9

SEEKING HAPPINESS

Often have I pondered the word `Happiness'
So, what is happiness?
Can such a state exist beyond this mess?
Is it easy to attain?
You say it is? Then why do so many strain
to catch but a glimpse of it before they die?
Those who say they're always happy surely lie?
How can one be happy in this place of misery,
where daily iniquities horrific we see,
and death is dealt so quickly and needlessly,
as if most happiness do not deserve?
And yet, those with no conscience, to claim,
in the midst of such suffering, they are enthralled
with happiness, with such deception, have a nerve!

Is it money which makes some blind to reality?
Wealth allows one to self-deceive a little longer
and that is all, as far as I can see,
when one is caught in a mental battle,
if one has some scruples, to try and justify
why some are blessed while others,
in their useless toil, with pain and hunger cry.
Besides, with money, as I have often noted,
comes snobbery, great pomposity, and egotistical mockery,
of those who below wealth of such individuals be.
And when such sentiments are not expressed openly,
they surely are via mechanisms of exclusivity,
in which the rich, as if they own Heaven too,
disregard the riff-raff in poverty,
as they await the services of the Deity,
while in truth they fret the thought of pilfery.
And so many wars, conflicts and disasters have arisen
from the pursuit of wealth and money,
that foolish indeed would one need to be
to consider wealth and its cupidity
are means to happiness and not tragedy!
And do not wealthy ones live like Kings and Queens,
Princes and Princesses of Greed
as if not having enough, more they need
to satisfy an ever-increasing, insatiable and
certainly destructive desire for more,
much more, from which even with
the fear of death they are not freed?
Jokingly we paint a mental picture of the
drowning rich man clutching his gold
which he will not let go,
and being thus occupied, goes to a grave below,
for his greed would not allow him to grasp the line
which would salvage him from danger just fine.

No, no, no! Wealth, with all its incumbent
dangers a procurer of lasting happiness can never be,
for it is, in reality, a creation of Mammon
who rules with Evil, for exploitation,
in this Depravity.
So now, let me see, let me see clearly.
Could happiness be contained
in the notion of longevity,
that state leading to Physical Immortality?
Oh, I think not on reflection,
for have I not seen those who seek to beat
the Aging Process live more and more in anxiety,
in which each daily ache and pain,
each muscular spasm, each symptom of possible malady
affects their mood horribly?

They spend so much time pandering to their physical
that they become enwrapped in their bodies selfishly
and neglect to a disastrous point other areas which are
of far greater importance really.
Those who invest so much time and energy to live longer, forever even,
are neglectful of the thoughts to prepare
for death's eventuality, for they live in denial of Death
and thus do not prepare at all into future
lasting dimensions to enter smoothly.

Ah, but what tragedy in them we see soon enough
when they are rocked by news of terminal disease
in their bodies which must end inevitably?
Their anxiety over so many years was for nought it seems,
and they suffered more in their hope for Physical Immortality,
than we can imagine, and in all of it no happiness
did they find, as far as I can see.
How can one be happy in that way, building an illusion hypocritically,
thinking of living in the physical forever and
denying the very Messages of Avatars who have said repeatedly
we must prepare for death and a transition to states of Heaven,
or Hell, for they shall occur with certainty?
No, there cannot be any sense of True Happiness
even in the thought of Physical Immortality,
for who in their right mind would want this Earthly craziness,
where the majority suffer noxiously,
to last and last towards infinity?
There is horror in such a vile, ugly concept,
not thoughts of real happiness for me.

Well then, apart from the fear of Death which causes ones to
seek such spurious Physical Immortality, what is it that drives
men and women on this orb of pain and energy pilfery?
Ah yes, sex and all its traps, surely?
Well, this one is even easier to dismiss
as a stage leading to Happiness and Tranquillity.
If sex, which inevitably, if unchecked,
leads to Lust, gave happiness, there would be a group
who would be ecstatic with their fulfilled fantasy.
I am referring to prostitutes, some of whom claim
they are forced by circumstances into the job daily.

But, instead of happiness, they demonstrate the
features of the misery of lowlife even more readily,
and it is a well-known fact that they are repelled
by such a life of lust and depravity, needing to resort
to drugs to blot out the mental torture of their
prostituting ways just to be able to look at
themselves in daylight to any respectable degree.

Harassed by police, abused by clients, and
thrashed exploitatively by pimps, these wretches,
these hell-bound energy-suckers and distributors
of venereal infirmity are anything but happy,
as far as I can see.
And how many of them can reveal themselves
for what they are, and do so to their parents
and children, with honesty, soberly, unashamedly?

Demons thrive in these occupations, but they thrive
in any depravity, and are anything but happy really.
Even those who get their "kicks" seducing others,
and even molesting children, or spouses, live in
self-deluding temporary joys of the thrills.
But the constant anxiety, of being exposed and
punished, catches up with them eventually,
in appropriate ways timely, so that they end,
not at all in happiness, but in insufferable misery.

Alas, no happiness is there
in this prescribed bodily function,
programmed by rapacious hormones,
and Evil's need to increase
its progeny, when it is abused,
as more and more is the case in this
Endtime, as can be seen, ending so tragically.
The Gnostics were right, of course,
to suspect this function was to the
detriment of the Spirit and to thus
avoid it with metaphysical perspicacity.

Well, perhaps happiness is to be found
in the other appetites bodily
which we find very hard to deny,
at times, no matter how hard we think we try?
Could happiness come by living
as epicureans so that with self-bestowing
largesse we drink and eat as bon vivants nonchalantly,
with hedonistic priority?
Are culinary libertines, those who
can afford the best, that is,
striking examples of satisfaction, living,
even among ubiquitous poverty, always happily?

"No!" is the answer there also as we see,
for in many, as with greed in matters monetary,
such ones are affected by the Sin of Gluttony.
I always think of Henry the Eighth of England,
who died from both his syphilis and the
disastrous consequences of his demonstrable gluttony.
It is said that such was his corpulence that the cadaver,
with fermentation, exploded from gaseous distension
before they had time to bury it properly!

Considering all the problems which alimentary excess
can bring, and alcoholism from excessive drink,
and all the associated aspects of this malady of Gluttony,
no one thus afflicted could possibly
for long live at all healthily, let alone happily.
No siree; it seems we are running out of topics
which would allow us to think we are happy
on this plane when we examine it honestly.

So what in this life remains?
What aspect of life makes some happy?
Ah yes, many seek happiness in power, as we see
in politicians, or as in heads of firms, of businesses,
in religions, and clubs of sport or those
which cater to the masses with mixed social
responsibility we see.
But, in the seeking of this power, how many tyrants,
tin-pot dictators and vile despots do we see?
Far too many, is the answer if you ask me.
And even in democracies, those who strive for power become
corrupted in their striving, for they need to buy and bribe their
way up the hierarchies in the corridors of the ruling gentry.

And if they do attain the highest, with attainment of absolute
power are they corrupted absolutely.
They need to lie and cheat and learn to stab backs
efficiently so the power goes to them surely.
The contenders twist and turn and beg for favours,
money and consideration, so much so, that they grovel
and not unlike prostitutes become readily.
But worse is the decay, for when they gain the power
is it not most of the time used to subjugate and
oppress others even so-called democratically?
Is it not a case of imposition of the will of
s/he who has the power on the subordinated,
regardless of whether they are willing sycophants
or repressed, powerless, poor, or dispossessed gentry?

Do not such powerful ones rule by threats,
or fear or ignorance or even violence committed readily?
Indeed, they do, and repeatedly such examples
around the world do we see daily,
especially in the "Banana Republics" so-called,
and fracturing Third World Countries where size
really counts - size of one's ego and gun that is,
so that the Just are always tread on painfully!
And in First World Countries, such as Australia and
the USA, we see deceit and duplicity of the elite
who enriched themselves not always honestly.
On such roads of corruption and chicanery,
no valid happiness truly can there be.
The need or desire to fool others or to keep them mentally
bound in ignorance, as religions do, is a trait of
demonic behaviour which predominates on this
plane of Deceit and Ignorance, in this harrowing
dimension of the Grand Illusion of Evil,
and it affects the trapped populace, especially
the True Beings constantly and ever so tragically.
Those seeking True Happiness, should forgo the
power of this world which always ends lamentably.

There are many more traps on this plane which
I have enumerated many times previously,
and they certainly include the traps of emotionalism
to family and progeny, to religion, educational
process and careers we need to pursue of necessity.
We kid ourselves while we are in the Illusion
that these aspects provide some happiness to us.
But once we awaken, even just a little, and see
these were all traps with many demons causing fuss,
we soon realise that whatever emotional
appeasement we gained came at a great price.

More likely is the case that we have been scarred in these
aspects of life by experiences far from nice.
But in our unawakened states we tolerated what came, for we
knew no better, and even though we felt the pain, we buried our
sorrow and recurrent disappointments, and thought not twice
that perhaps life was not meant to be like that at all
and we did not have to the demons, beg and crawl.
What wisdom and value in hindsight, hey?
But come, let's now cheer up,
for we live in the light of another day.
It is only when we dissect this Earthly life in
this way and see all the traps, all the exploitation,
physical, mental and emotional, that we can really
proceed towards our goal for living happily.
How then do we attain that goal?
Easy it is, as easy as can be.
Once we have seen through the nonsense of this
Illusion and the drugged state which destroys
True Spirits and is passed off as living `happily'
we can reject all these mechanisms of temporary
sensual appeasement and see more clearly.

We can then prepare ourselves for coming changes
which will destroy the physical inevitably,
but doing so will release us in Spirit so, thus liberated,
we can attain the happiness we seek
in dimension not physical but described in times
past as heavenly in God's Golden City.

Thus it is that our happiness resides,
even while we are trapped on this plane,
in the process by which we prepare
and anticipate True Liberty.

Having seen through the counterfeit's crassness
and knowing in it for us there can be no happiness,
we simultaneously reject this flawed,
evil world and prepare by meticulous purification
of mind and spirit for eventual spiritual sublimation
into the realm of the Pristine Creation.
Only there, after the appropriate transition
shall we find True Happiness and satisfaction,
only there, is there true, eternal gratification.
